Student Support Services :

The latest in educational facilities and opportunities are provided here including access to Internet. Teaching aids such as OHPs, LCD projectors, Computers and Microphones have been made available to all the departments.

Information cum Career Guidance and Counselling Cell (ICGC) :

Information cum Career Guidance and Counselling Cell (ICGC) is a student welfare service aimed at providing them with guidance and counselling to cope with personal and social problems and to provide wide exposure to career opportunities. The cell organises awareness programmes for personality development and workshops to provide information on career avenues and prospects.

Language Lab :

A new Language Lab has been set up under the aegis of the Department of English with UGC assistance under Teaching-Aids Scheme of the XI Plan. The Language Lab has the latest facilities for imparting training in developing language skills. The Lab is equipped with 15 computers which are LAN networked and also provided with Internet connectivity. Six month certificate courses in Functional English will be offered from the new academic session.

National Service Scheme (NSS) :

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary organisation of college students under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, established in 1993 to inculcate social consciousness and a sense of responsibility discipline and dignity of labour among the youth. The students can enrol themselves in the NSS unit of the college at the beginning of the academic session. The college unit of the NSS takes up a number of social service programmes with active participation of the people of the locality.

Bharat Scouts and Guides :

The college has a unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides since 2006. Students can enrol themselves at the time of admission to the college.

Students’ Aid Fund :

The college has an aid fund that provides financial help to economically backward meritorious students. An application accompanied by the income certificate of the parents from a competent authority must be submitted to the Principal of the college for consideration of aid.

Red Ribbon Club ( RRC) :

Sipajhar College has a “Red Ribbon Club” functioning under the aegis of the Assam State Aids Control Society (ASACS), Khanapara. The main purpose of the club is to create awareness among the students about voluntary blood donation, blood testing, blood grouping, AIDS, HIV avoidance of intoxicants etc. and how to take preventive measures. Membership for students is free and voluntary.

Library :

The Sipajhar College Library has around twenty thousand books, several national and local newspapers and more than two dozen journals, both national and international. It follows the open access system with books being lent out through requisition slips. The process of library automation, installing OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalogue) is underway. The library has access to INFLIBNET services. Besides providing internet facilities the library users also have access to reprographic services and photocopies of resources available in the library and reference section.


A full-fledged Women’s Hostel having all modern amenities which has been functioning for the last decade offers accommodation for girls. The number of seats are limited and are allotted on merit basis. However women coming from places with inadequate transport and communication facilities are given priority. A separate form for admission to the hostel, obtainable from the Warden on the day of college admission, is to be filled.

Women’s Cell :

The college has a functioning Women’s Cell that works in close coordination with the Women’s Study Centre of Gauhati University. The cell observes the International Women’s Day (8th March); World Environment Day( 5th June ); World Literacy Day (September) and World AIDS Day (1st December) every year. Besides conducting health camps and workshops the cell also arranges lectures on women’s health issues by leading health practitioners

Student’s Union :

The college students’ union is an elected body of the students. The union body is entrusted with the responsibility of organising the Fresher’s Social and College Week. The college authority provides assistance and co-operation to the Union in all its activities.

Co-Curricular Activities :

Games & Sports : Built with UGC assistance under the XI Plan the college has an Indoor Sports Training Centre with state-of- the- art- equipment. It provides facilities for indoor sports and games. This centre was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Education Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) :

The IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of Sipajhar College was reconstituted on the 30th of January 2012. It has taken up implementation of the UGC recommended Performance Based Self Appraisal System. The IQAC of the college would give access to the Work-Load, Teaching Plan, Unit Test Schedule, Student Feedback and Annual Plans of all the teachers of the college to any guardians wanting to do so.
