Department of Botany

About the Department :

The Department of Botany of Sipajhar College is one of the departments of newly introduced science stream in the year 2018. We offer both major and general undergraduate courses under Gauhati University.

With the very congenial climate of its own, this part of the North East India is known for being the habitat of many botanically curious and botanical rarities with natural propagation and traditionalism in cultivation for multiple species.

The Department of Botany envisions a concerned and conscious community, protecting and reducing depletion of the indigenous plant diversity and exploring the diversity in continuum, in an explicitly comparative context.

With an optimal infrastructure including the laboratory, modern classrooms with audiovisual aids and the environs with rich botanical diversity, the department is ever percipient to the inquisitiveness and changing demands of the student fraternity.

  1. On 25th of October, 2019 we visited Shillong and Cherapunjee as a part of course curriculum with B.Sc. 1st semester students.
  2. On 8th November, 2019 we conducted an exposure program to IASST, Guwahati with B.Sc. 3rd semester students under Gauhati University syllabus.
